Homo heidelbergensis was the lnk between the african Homo ergaster and the european Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis. Fossiles have been found in Germany, France, England and Spain. Recent findings in Atapuerca (Spain) suggest that H. heidelbergensis may have been the first species of the Homo genus to bury their dead, even offering gifts. Wild dear, elephants, rhinoceroses and horses were hunted with wooden spears, as can be seen in this video clip.
