Homo neanderthalensis: The Ice Age man

Neanderthals have long been thought to be our direct ancestors. Paleoanthropological findings have yet proved that it is not so, although recent DNA-Analysis suggests that we share 4% of our DNA with them.

Neanderthals were shorter and more robust than Homo sapiens. They had large brow-ridges, a slightly protruding face and lack of prominent chin. They lived mainly in cold areas during the Ice Age and were able to hunt down animals as big as mammoths, as can be seen in this video clip.
